CHAIRMAN’S
REPORT – The
Chairman welcomed Kristine to the
Council and commented how quickly she has become integrated.
QUEEN’S JUBILEE
This time last year we were praying for the weather to be kind to us, and were hoping that everything ran smoothly on the day. Well the weather could have been better, but it could also have been a lot worse, and yes all went well, and a good time was had by all that attended.
It was wonderful to read the Chairman’s report for this year’s AGM of the Hall Committee. The Committee can now boast that it no longer has to rely on fund raising to keep the hall ticking over. I am sure you will all agree that a dedicated committee has achieved this with a good Chairman and Treasurer. Well done Les and Mike, and well done to all the other committee members.

HOLLY COTTAGE
We have seen the refurbishment of Holly Cottage was completed without too
many problems, and we are now receiving a regular income from Mr. & Mrs.
Johnson, the new tenants. Sadly it appears that we will have to write off the arrears Mr. Harper left behind. The only consolation is that we have
safeguarded ourselves against this happening again by having a guarantor on the lease.
THE MSA
I never knew we had an award-winning photographer in our midst. On a serious note, Mike, on behalf of the Parish Council we thank you for all your hard work on this committee and for attending numerous meetings, but most of all for arranging and giving such an informative presentation for the inspector, the other evening. Our thanks to you and the RAMS committee.
THE PLAY AREA
Plans passed, and we are on our way to providing a much needed play area for the children and young adults of the Parish. I am sure we will encounter a few hitches along the way, but this has never deterred us before. I think the main problem the sub-committee is facing is of members being unable to get to meetings because of their work commitments etc. Hopefully when we co-opt new members onto this committee we will be able to withstand an odd member being absent.
Unfortunately at present there only seems to be Les and Isabel that are available during the day during the week.
Finances
Although we have had to take out a loan from the Public Works Loan Board to refurbish Holly Cottage, out finances are looking good, we still have the income from Fishing Rights and the rent from the two cottages. I feel that as long as we follow our proposed budget, we will again manage another year without having to set a precept rate for the Parish.
The Maltings
At last a compromise has been reached, planning permission given and, hopefully, work will begin in the near future. It will be lovely to have this area restored and completed after such a long time.
Mayor Making
My final job of the year was the Mayor Making in Boroughbridge where Rob
& Janet Young took over as Mayor and Mayoress from Cllr. & Mrs. Windass.

I have to say that the ceremony was very informal, lots of mistakes made, and lots of laughs during the ceremony. The buffet supper was very nice and the entertainment excellent, having said this, I have to declare an interest as I am biased, Rachel was singing
Conclusion
Finally I would like to thank the Vice Chairman for all his help, guidance and support over the year, thanks very much Mike.
Isabel, thank you very much for all your hard work over the past year.
And to all the councillors thank you for your support, it has been a very busy but enjoyable year.
Thank you.
5. Financial Report
The financial report was reviewed and discussed. It was proposed by Cllr. K. Ouldridge and seconded by Cllr. K. Saunders.
6. Election of Officers.
Cllr.
M. Collins thanks the Chairman, Cllr. C. Elstob for her work as Chairman over
the last year. He then proposed that the Chairman should remain in post.
Cllr. C. Elstob agreed to remain in post but she may be going to
University and, if this happens, then she will have to stand down. | In
this event there would have to be a re-election. Cllr M. Collins seconded
this proposal. Cllr. K. Ouldridge proposed Cllr. M. Fisher as Vice
Chairman, seconded by Cllr. M. Collins. It was proposed that Cllr. M.
Collins should be in charge of the Council Audit Committee – proposed by
Cllr.. M. Fisher, seconded by Cllr. K. Saunders.
7. Any Other Business
All matters carried forward to the general Parish Council Meeting.
