North Yorkshire County Council, as the Minerals and Waste planning authority for the parts of the County outside the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks, has a statutory duty to prepare a Minerals and Waste Development Framework, containing proposals and policies to guide minerals and waste planning decisions. In due course, the policies and proposals will replace the County Council’s current Minerals and Waste Local Plans.

The County Council is now submitting its Minerals and Waste Core Strategies Development Plan Documents (DPDs) for public examination. They are the first elements in a hierarchy of key documents, which set out an overall strategy for minerals and waste development in the County. The Core Strategies documents also contain a limited number of policies which are intended to help guide the determination of individual planning applications for minerals and waste development:

The above documents are subject to a 6 week public consultation from 18th January – 29th February 2008.  Any comments you may wish to make should be submitted, preferably with reference to the Guidance Notes and by using the Response Form below:
